Sephora VIB Sale Wishlist: 2017 Edition

It’s almost that time of year again!  No, I’m not talking about Christmas, Beauty Junkies, nor am I talking about the entire month of November which just happens to be the birth month of yours truly.  Like I have done for the past um…forever…I’m talking about what I wait for ALL YEAR LONG: the Sephora VIB Rouge 20% off sale. I formulate my list all year long.  I have my cart ready to go, and a note in the notes app on my phone where I compile things all year ’round.  I thought I’d share it all with you in case you needed some inspiration or, like me, you’re just nosey and want to see what other people will be picking up.

This year, I did something a bit different, and have listed my top 10 12, must have, holy grail products.

  • CLINIQUE Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief – I’ve heard MakeupByTiffanyD rave about this and I’ve had a sample that I really loved.  I’m a die hard Origins Vitazing girl, but just might branch out a little
  • UD All Nighter Setting Spray – an old faithful.  I have to pick it up when it’s on sale knowing I go through 2 or 3 of these a year
  • Perricone MD  No Highlighter Highlighter – another Tiffany D recco!  This is a combo highlighter/skin product, so how could I not love this?
  • BEAUTYBLENDER  Gold Mine – this is a steal for 2 BeautyBlenders and a Blotterozzi.  I know I think might be a gimmick, but it this might also be the perfect time to give the Blotterozzi a try.
  • IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination Cream with SPF 50+ – I use the the regular CC cream and find myself putting a cream highlighter into it for the occasional bump of shimmer now that the seasons have changed and my tan is gone {full disclosure}.  I’d wonder if this would give the same finish to my skin as I so dearly love with the CC cream
  • CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops set – I have to have these.  I just can’t rationalize the full size bottle of this highlighter, and I truly love the way it gives the perfect pop on a variety of skin tones, the versatility of the cream, and the way it blends so smoothly on skin.  I’m afraid if I buy the full size that it’ll go bad before I’m halfway thru.  Here’s the perfect way to have a few bottles without the guilt
  • L’Occitane 4-piece Hand Cream Delights – winter = rough hands and skin for most of us.  This is my ride or die hand cream all year round, and also makes a great gift
  • Jo Malone London Wood Sage & Sea Salt perfume – this is a new discovery for me and I like the under notes of all JM fragrances.  Wood Sage doesn’t give me any sort of a headache, and can we get more luxe with the packaging?
  • BITE Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick – I have one of these already and quite like it, but the colour pulls a little too nude for my taste {Whip, if you’re wondering}.  So I think I’m going to pick this up in Eclair.
  • Marc Jacobs Highliner in Brownout – I’ve had a couple of these liners before and just love them.  They don’t transfer at all and stay put beautifully – all day – in the waterline.  I’d like to pick up another one, specifically in this shade
  • IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette – I’ve waited sosososo long for IT to come to Canada and have heard about this palette for years.  I think it’s so incredibly versatile and gives hundreds of different options.  What’s not to love?
  • YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick – I have a few of these, and the shade range, creamy texture and long wear time just can’t be beat.  Only BITE so far has provided a slightly longer wear time, but tend to have only matte shades.  Plus, this one smells just divine.
  • SHU UEMURA lash curler – I swear by this for eye shapes of all kinds and it’s about time I pick up a new one
  • Hermes Twilly perfume – While walking thru Saks the other day, I decided to stop and grab a sample after I’d heard Makeup by Tiffany D talk about this.  I’m skeptical about scent reccos from other people just because I’m prone to headaches.  This one has turned out to be a win for sure.  I’ve been in the market for a new perfume and I think this {and the Wood Sage & Sea Salt, of course} will be my new fall scent!

I’m Back!! And a Mini Review

Guys!  I’m back!  A blog post is long overdue, I know.  There’s nothing worse than a website with a scarcely updated blog page and somehow, my website became the very thing I didn’t want it to be.  Alas, it was a hella busy summer – we got a puppy, cottaged, and generally relaxed – and so I decided to take a break.  For those of you that have stuck around, thank you!  And for those that have popped in as new readers, I plan to blog lots more over the next year and I’m excited for what’s coming up on LnL!

Anyway, on to the review…

You guys know I’m a fan of Becca highlighters {who isn’t?!}.  They’re pigmented, blend like a dream, come in a number of different shades and can be layered or worn on their own.  What’s not to love? When I saw the new Lightchaser highlighters, I was intrigued to say the least.

According to the Sephora website, the Light Chaser Highlighter’s transformative formula is the perfect marriage of kaleidoscopic color and light. Each shade is infused with kaleidoscopic pearls that chase the light for an otherworldly glow that makes your favorite features beam bright. This unique highlighter shifts shades as you move, delivering hypnotizing color luminosity with a metamorphic finish.

Ok, that’s great.  But how do you use it?  I went in to Sephora to see if I was missing something.  Why is this highlighter only $5 cheaper than the regular Becca highlighters, but in a much smaller package?  Perhaps I was using it incorrectly and it was to be far more concentrated and pigmented on the skin.  I asked an expert to see: it’s to top highlighters and make them shine.  Ok, well isn’t that the point of a highlighter?  So you’re telling me that Becca has created a highlighter to highlight a highlighter?  Yup.  And I bought it like a sucker.

The product itself isn’t terrible.  I’ll give it that.  It’s actually great on eyes to give a kaleidoscopic shine overtop of a cream shadow, and makes a great corner highlight.  On its own, it gives a nice sheen on the skin at the high points of the face, but I like the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors far better and you get tons more product for your money.

Skip this.  I wouldn’t waste your money.  It’s no different highlighter than any other, in fact, I prefer my $9 Wet n Wild highlighter far more.  If you want to give away $41, you can find it on Sephora’s website here.

Sephora VIB Spring Sale Wishlist

Spring.  It brings so many happy things after a long Canadian winter: warmer weather, pedicures, green grass and bright sunshine to name a few, but most importantly, the Sephora VIB Spring Sale.  It’s been confirmed, April 18-24th brings about 15% off for all VIB members {Rouge gets a head start April 18th, at least I get something for my over-spending..}, via the code ROUGESPRING {VIBSPRING – for regular VIB members/borderline over spenders, BISPRING – for Beauty Insiders/reasonable spenders}.  The code can be used multiple times throughout the sale.

I’ve put together a wishlist of a few things I’ve been lusting after.  I’m trying to curb spending on makeup as much as possible, but like any good beauty junkie, I’m not doing very well.  I can’t guarantee I’ll buy all of this.  Granted, it’s not a hefty list and won’t break the bank, so I’m not really 100% decided {bonus points for any rationalization of beauty product purchases…comment below if y’all are in the club with me}.  I thought you’d all like a sneak peak at just what I’m thinking I’ll buy April 18th.

Benefit’s Goof Proof Pencil – I’ve seen a number of people rave about this product and I’m willing to be a convert from the Anastasia camp.  I can rationalize giving this a try with a little discount, no?  I think I’ll be in the shade Medium.

tarte Fake Awake eyeliner – Tiffany D from Makeup By Tiffany D raved about this product; I have been a loyal viewer for years, and trust her opinions.  I often line my waterline with a darker liner appreciating the look it gives of fuller bottom lashes and with the right tone can really make my greenish/brown eyes pop.  I’m interested to see if the opposite will open my eyes and give a different sort of a pop to my overall look.

NARS Madly blush – This looks like it might be a bit light for my skintone, but I’ll give it a try.  I’ve seen a few YouTubers give it a rave review, so I’m willing to order it knowing I can return to Sephora if it doesn’t work {I try not to do this, generally, since they can’t re-sell used product}. Have any of you used this on a more olive skintone?

Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter – This isn’t a product I’ve heard any particular buzz about, but rather, I’m on the hunt for a rose gold highlighter and this one just found it’s way into my cart like it was meant to be!  I did a quick web search and can’t really find any reviews.  I’ll give this a sort of a ‘blind’ shot, though, because Too Faced generally always hits

Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette – My current collection really lacks any Anastasia products beyond her collection-staple Brow Whiz and Dipbrow Pomade really.  I heard nothing but rave reviews about the Anastasia x Mario palette, but missed the boat on that one {still hitting myself for not purchasing} so this comes in a close second from what I’ve read.  It has some seriously beautiful shades that I’d use daily – namely the golds and browns – and I’ve been meaning to add a pop of pink for spring to my look so this palette fits that bill just right too.  I also like the mix of shimmer and matte.  I have a really good feeling about this one!

There you have it.  This makeup junkie is ready – well ahead of time – to pull the trigger on some much needed new beauty bits.

Sephora VIB Sale Wishlist

It’s almost that time of year again!  No, I’m not talking about Christmas, Beauty Junkies, nor am I talking about the entire month of November which just happens to be the birth month of yours truly.

I’m talking about what I wait for ALL YEAR LONG: the Sephora VIB Rouge 20% off sale.  It’s the one time of the year I can save a significant amount on products I love and those that I’ve equally lusted over all year long but just haven’t pulled the trigger for one reason or another.  In true beauty junkie form, I’ve had my list ready for a few weeks now.  I thought I’d share it all with you in case you needed some inspiration or, like me, you’re just nosey and want to see what other people will be picking up.

I’ve divided this into two sections – must haves and might haves {a sort of ‘needs’ and ‘wants’, if you will} – in a feeble attempt to limit my spending to just what I should pick up because I know I’ll use it as a backup once I’m done a current fave.  Without further ado, here goes:

screen-shot-2016-10-26-at-8-24-58-pm

  • Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Meringue*
  • UD All Nighter Setting Spray – an old faithful.  I have to pick it up when it’s on sale knowing I go through 2 or 3 of these a year
  • Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Splits Shimmering Skin Perfector Mineral Blush Duo in Prosecco Pop/Pamplemousse – you guys know I’m a true fan of Champagne Pop, so I want to give Prosecco Pop a go and why not do it with a blush combo?
  • Marc Jacobs Primrose lip liner – this is a staple for me.  It blends flawlessly with almost any lippie I own and I don’t ever want to run out of it
  • Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in Night Fever/Hot Stuff – besides having crazy cool names, this looks like a perfect plum pink shade I’d like to have in my collection, perfect for the fall!
  • Mugler Angel perfume refill – I wear this daily and it’s my signature scent.  I’m about due for a refill, so this should last me all year
  • Anastasia Brow Wiz and Dipbrow Pomade – I wear each of these, mostly the pomade, and need want backups.  I’ve yet to find a perfect dupe and so I’ll keep purchasing this one; it’s not crazy expensive and a little bit goes a long way

*this needs no comment.  See here.

screen-shot-2016-10-26-at-8-27-44-pm

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Chase – this comes highly recommended from Allie Sevdalis.  We have similar skin tones and makeup tastes, so I’d like to pick this up if I can
  • Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Powder in #01 – this comes highly recommended from both TiffanyD and LisaSz09, both on YouTube.  If I’m so inclined, I might give this one a try and see how it compares to my beloved Champagne Pop!
  • Marc Jacobs Highliner in Brownout – I’ve had a couple of these liners before and just love them.  They don’t transfer at all and stay put beautifully – all day – in the waterline.  I’d like to pick up another one, specifically in this shade
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal light – I have the palette of last Christmas and this one isn’t included, yet I’ve seen it as one of the best reviewed and most accurately translated to a number of different skin tones.  I would like to add this one since I love the finish of these so much.  This particular product just might get switched to the ‘Must Have’ list…
  • s1845668-main-lheroHourglass Ambient Lighting Edit in Surreal Light – again, a highly recommended Hourglass product.  And can we just take a moment for this packaging, PLEASE?  It’s just gorgeous.  {side note: I’m developing an un-healthy obsession with marble.  More on that later} This provides a blush {which I know I love} and a fairly large Hourglass bronzer {yet to try those}, alongside more of the beautiful Ambient Lighting finishing powder and a strobing powder {again, yet to try this one}.  The price-tag, however, is the only thing stopping me.  Maybe, just maybe I’ll get some $$ for my birthday and take the plunge

That’s it for me…well…so far at least.  I’ve got my cart ready to go.  What are you planning to pick up?  If you’ve got any reviews on anything above, too, please share in the comments. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Declaring My Love for Minis

Mini’s.  I love them.  What defines a “mini” you ask?  Well I’m talking sample size.  Any sort of a sample size:  perfume, foundation, highlighter, eyeliner – you name it!   I get most of my mini’s from Sephora – 100 point perks {or 500 point perks, but rarely.  Those sizes are often more substantial, while still deemed a “sample” of the full sized product}.  Occasionally, I get a stellar mini from an Ipsy bag that finds its way to my rotation.   Frequently, I’ve nailed down a product or two from the Sephora line of shame.  Why the “line of shame” you ask?  Because it gets me EVERY TIME.  I line up, buy more than I need, test new things, come back.  Sephora/LVMH – marketing for the win!

Rotation is another word I’d like to define.  How each person uses their mini’s tends to vary, I’d assume. For me, most of my minis end up in my travel makeup bag.  It’s not my 100% travel-all-the-time bag, but rather is my overnight makeup bag.  Perhaps “24 hour makeup bag” is a better moniker.  Anyway, this is not only a way for me to keep some mini’s of my faves in the rotation, but also to try some products I might not get to on the reg.

{Full disclosure: I use a lot of mini’s even in my regular daily rotation, namely for mascara samples.   It’s not just a travel thing!}

I thought the best way to show you just how deep my love of mini’s runs would be to go through my “24 hour” makeup bag with you.  Keep reading for a snapshot of my faves!

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray:  this was a one time mini purchase and wasn’t a sample I received for “free” per se.  I fill this with my HOLY GRAIL setting spray {from the bigger size} so I always have it just when I need it.  I can take an eyeliner or an eyeshadow or even a blush and create a look using this as a base, or just use it to lock in my look all day.

Tarte Clay Paint Liner in Bronze: just tried this for the first time today.  I’ve been a long time fan of Tarte.  I love their blushes.  I love their liners, whether clay pencil liner or a clay gel liner.  Their eyeshadows are highly pigmented and pop even without a primer.  This liner came up as a point perk from Sephora {sorry, not sure the level} not too long ago, and so I jumped as soon as I saw it.  I find that with my hazel/brown eyes, copper coloured liners just make them look brighter and wider. It’s an optical illusion, but it just works!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment: you’ve seen me post about these before; it’s no secret they’re a staple for me whether full sized or not.  Having one of these in my “24 hour” bag ensures that my lips are perfectly primed for whatever I throw on them – lip gloss, lip stick, lip pencil.  Oh, and if I throw in one with a colour base {as I sometimes do – depends on what I have} it can double as a daily lip colour.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder: see above for my love of Tarte.  Their setting powder is the bomb dot comb.  I hate to use that phrase, but it’s just the best to describe it succinctly.  I use it all over to set a concealer {see below for foundation/concealer caveat} or just for my under eyes alone.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick: {not sure, but I think this is in the colour ‘Shadow’} Bobbi Brown is, I think at least, an under-rated stellar brand.  Her esthetic is set to simply enhance your natural beauty.  What’s not to love?  This can double as an eyeliner, but I often use it as a base when I want to amplify the Costal Scents shadows. All of her products are buttery smooth and last for-ever.  I love them and will purchase {not this particular shade} a full sized pencil for sure in the future.

img_0123

Costal Scents shadows: {Revealed Palette Sampler} these have the most insane pigment for the price.  These retail for $11.95 USD in full size; lord knows what a mini would be! I got them in an Ipsy bag if I remember correctly, and have used them religiously for the last year or two.

Nars Orgasm/Laguna duo: two of my faves in a compact little package.  I wish I could have one of these everywhere!  Oh wait, I do.  I have one here, in my purse, at my office, and in my makeup collection.  I’m able to easily bronze up any look, do a light contour {see brushes above!} and warm up the cheeks with the universally flattering Orgasm {don’t let the name turn you off. You NEED this in your collection}.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: I’ve posted about this before.  I do quite like the mascara, just not enough to justify purchasing the full size from Sephora.  I love the long, separated look it gives, and is perfect for every day.  I have a few of these in my backup stash.  It wears wonderfully all day, but just doesn’t quite give the volume I look for in a mascara.

MAC Lipliner in Dervish: I think I may have said it before, but, incase I didn’t here it is: I’m not MAC’s #1 fan.  I just think there are so many better brands out there, even a few at a lower price point.  Their lipliners aren’t anything to write home about but I’ve recently found myself with a few {extra} in my collection.  I’ve got many brands I prefer over MAC, so instead of de-stashing this one, I put it in with my 24 hour makeup collection just because this particular shade is wonderful all over the lip a ‘Your Lips But Better Shade’, if you will.  This way I can pop on a bit of liner and the Fresh Lip Treatment over top and give my lips a little pick me up on the fly.

Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer in Mood Light: this one was a Sephora 100 point perk, if I’m correct.  And know what?  I love it.  I’m actually debating a purchase of a full sized {which is, undoubtedly, super $$}.  It gives a subtle glow to the skin and keeps hold of any later applied makeup perfectly.

Eyeliner Mini’s: Marc Jacobs Highliner {unsure of the shade} and MUFE Aqua XL in black – both of these liners wear so well on the lash line and the inner rim, so keeping these in here is a no-brainer.  With the copper Marc Jacobs shade and MUFE black liner, I can compliment any look or vamp up any day for a night on the town.

Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 50: if you’ve been reading a while, you’ve seen my post on why good skin care is essential.  That’s why I’ve got this in here.  Plain and simple!

Chanel Glossimer in #166 Amour: is this not the absolute cutest mini in history?  I think so!  I have a couple of these that I’ve received from the Chanel counter.  I love Chanel glosses and this poppy pink shade looks far brighter in the tube than it translates onto the lips.  It gives enough of a shine to the lips to wear with any eye look and keeps them moisturized.

Urban Decay Lipstick in Naked: this is just a wonderful nude-pink shade that goes well with the tone of my lips.  It seems to work day to night, and while I’m not over the moon with the lippie formulation, it certainly does the trick.

NYX Sculpt and Highlight Brow Countour in Light Beige/Espresso: y’all know I hate to be without brows, so when I found this little duo product in the NYX store, I had to pick it up.  If I do nothing else on my eyes, my brows are always done.  This isn’t a HG product of any sort, but it does the job well and the highlighter pencil on the end helps tie any look together.

Misc tools: Tweezerman Mini tweezers {cause you never know when you gonna get a stray hair!} and Sephora travel eyelash curler.  This lash curler isn’t my fave but it certainly works in a pinch.  I’ve not only got one in here, but one in each of my purse makeup bags too.  Hair tie – I’ve got thick, somewhat unruly hair.  ‘nuff said.

Various brushes: these are hard to narrow down, but have, generally speaking, come from larger makeup purchases {Dior and Chanel!} or as a gift with purchase.  They make great purse-sized additions or are the perfect “24 hour” makeup bag substitution for the real thing!

**Foundation/Concealer caveat:  I often use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind all over – under my eyes, on my face, wherever it needs to go.  It blends so seamlessly and conceals perfectly.  What’s not to love?  I don’t often wear foundation, but if I did, I’d grab a MUFE mini from Sephora and throw it in!  If I’m in particular trouble, I use what’s left of a Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque**

Current {and Forever} Faves

I store my makeup in a tiny, clear acrylic storage bin in my downtown condo-sized bathroom.  It works for me, and forces me to rotate out of my ever expanding collection.  I thought this was a good time {bi-monthly changeout time, of course} to post about some of my current loves and tried and true faves.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – I’ve tried other powders across the spectrum in terms of price, and nothing holds a candle to this stuff.  Why would I spend the $60 on Chanel Les Beiges when I can use my PRO discount and get this for $15?  It’s long wearing, keeps {most of} my oil at bay, and gives an even finish to my overall skin tone.   I wear it in Medium Plus, but it comes in a broad spectrum of shades guaranteed to suit the gamut of ladies {or men, no judgement!}.

Y’all know my fave mascara and it hasn’t changed:  Maybelline Lash Sensational.  I use the regular formula in the blackest shade they make.  It doesn’t budge, holds a curl, adds volume, and doesn’t flake.  It checks all of my mascara boxes and you can get it for $7 on sale at the drugstore.

Fresh Sugar Lip Tints – these are great on their own or with a lipliner.  They are keeping my lips nice and soft as the weather here in Toronto cools.  I’ve taken to wearing the sheer hot pink {of course!} shade in Tulip with my favourite lip liner {see below!} as my daily lip combo of late.  You can get perfect little mini lip tints to try during the holidays and generally throughout the year as Sephora gifts – a bonus, they fit perfectly in your purse!

Marc Jacobs lip liner in Peony – This is just my most perfect neutral and looks great with the Fresh Sugar Lip Tints or under a lipstick.  The liner glides on smoothly, and stays on ALLLLLL day.  It gives me a perfect over-lined effect when I want it, and if I colour my lips in, it looks oh so natural.  Love this stuff, but only in this specific colour.  Go figure!  I’m not a huge fan of the other shades, as I think they’re easily dupe-able.

Another Marc Jacobs product, for the win!  The highliners.  They’re gorgeous and I love them.  They glide on smoothly and are easily smudged, but once they dry, they ain’t goin’ anywhere! Sephora recently had this set on sale for the Christmas season, and I wasn’t able to snag it – there must be tons of other MJ makeup freaks out there too, I guess.  I use this mainly in my waterline since purple compliments my shade of hazel eyes very well, so I can attest to the staying power and the fact that it doesn’t budge.

Mac Prep and Prime Highlighter in Radiant Rose  – I’ve used the Touche Eclat.  I’ve used the Dior Skinflash.  I’ve used the bareMinerals luminating highlighter.  NOTHING.  I repeat.  NOTHING.  Holds a candle to this stuff.  I use it daily under my eyes to brighten {I need it.  The corporate world can really wear a girl down} and on my cheeks if I want an extra pop of colour.  You can’t beat the price at $26 online and in MAC stores — it’s even less if you’ve got a PRO card like I do — and it lives up to all claims it makes and far beyond.  This is a staple I’ll never give up…ok, well at least not for the foreseeable future.

Anastasia Brow Whiz in Medium Brown.  I have very sparse brows.  It’s a combination of genetics and a former illness that resulted in substantial hair loss.  This stuff stays on, creates a natural or a not-so-natural look depending on what I’m feeling or the look I’ve created.  It’s {almost} waterproof, easy to work with, and works better than some higher priced brow pencils I’ve tried.  Editors’ note: make sure you work with it while it sets. Once it sets, it ain’t budging. {do you see a trend here in long wearing products?}

**I’m a bad beauty blogger and didn’t take a before pic…I remembered the post change-up pic.  I’ll do both next time, promise!**

Here’s the aftermath and what’s currently in my rotation for the next month or two.  Maybe one of these will make it into my next faves post!  See one of your faves?  Let me know below!

What are your current {or forever} faves?

Sephora VIB 2015 Recommendations

Well, it’s everyone’s favourite time of year again. No, not Christmas. It’s almost time for the Sephora VIB sale! That’s a whopping 20% off {ok, well if you’re here in Ontario, it’s a net of about 7% off after tax, but it’s somethin’} of everrrrryyyyything. Anything you want: 20% off. Want that super pricey GHD? 20% off. Want over-priced expensive shampoo? 20% off. Refill all of your products – for…you guessed it…20% off.

If you’re lucky enough, you were lucky enough to snag a Friends and Family discount coupon too {I came close this year, better luck next year. I’ll prepare early} and hit the sales twice. This post is sort of a yearly/all time faves and a ‘lil list of what I’ll be getting!   Since I’m anal For ease of shopping, I’ve divided the list into a few different categories. Leave your lists below in the comments and let me know if you want a haul in another month once I’ve made my purchases!

FACE

Too Faced Bronzer – this is a must have for me. You’ve seen my post comparing this with the Bourjois bronzer and {spoiler alert} they aren’t dupes. Get this. You won’t regret it.

NARS Laguna – another cult fave. I’ve just opened a new one, so I don’t know that I’ll need to purchase it, but if you don’t have it in your collection I’m sure it would be a much loved addition for many.

YSL Tiente Touche Eclat foundation – For the price of this stuff, I know what you’re thinking: “it’d better do my laundry and cooking for a year”. But hold the phone: a little goes a long way, so you can extend the life of this bottle. It gives such a healthy glow without a cakey look and it’s my go-to whenever I’ve got a night out or require flawless skin all day long.

NARS Blush in Orgasm – all of the NARS blushes have a great formula, but this cult fave is my absolute go-to and looks great on all of my clients regardless of their skin tone. I can darken it up with a heavier hand, or sheer it out as required. This is a must have {side note: it comes alongside a mini laguna in a little sampler/travel size. I keep this one in my purse for on the go touchups, but it would be a great way to give them both a try at half the price!}.

EYES

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – I’m not sure if I’ll go with black or brown, but I’ve heard a number of “gurus” {yes, that’s in quotes. I don’t think they’re real gurus, but it works for the purposes of describing their true beauty junkie status} rave about these eyeliners. I’ve been reluctant this past year to shell out the cash full price, so this’ll give me a good reason to try

Anastasia Brow Wiz – this is amazing stuff. It stays, it looks natural, and there’s a wide range of colours to choose from. I’ve got one in my purse and one in my daily rotation. I prefer the pencil to the pomade, but do have both. I’d recommend the pencil for a more natural, daily look. It’s what I use.

Tarte SmoulderEyes liners – I love these too, I really do. I use them in my waterline or smudged on top of the lash line and they don’t budge. If you’re looking for something similar, I’d grab any of the Marc Jacobs liners or Urban Decay 24/7 pencils

Urban Decay Primer Potion – I like to use just the plain transparent one, but any of the available shades will do. In terms of staying power, it’s un-paralleled {but I’ve not tried the NARS primer}, however, I tend to use paint pots or pencils when I need a colourful base.

LIPS

Fresh Sugar lip tints – I keep one in my purse, one at my desk, and one in my daily rotation. These give a perfect pop of colour and last awhile. You can use them alone or with a liner to give your lips a fuller look {how I like to do a low maintenance lip!}. They’re far better than the Dior Rose pot if you ask my {humble} opinion.

YSL Glossy Satins – high price. I get it. But they’re so luxe and soooooooo worth it! Just give one a shot and you won’t regret it. I have lots of shades {hello, junkie!} and they don’t dry lips while providing some seirous staying power.

YSL lipstick – have you guessed my fave high-end brand yet? These are creamy, fairly pigmented, and feel great on the lips. Again, a wide range of colours to suit lots of varied skin tones.

Buxom Lip Gloss – warning: these are designed to plump and will make your lips tingle! Personally, I love that. I actually think they work! Perhaps it’s the power of suggestion, but with my thin lips, I’ll take it. I keep White Russian in my purse – it is great over lots of lipsticks or on it’s own – and another in my daily rotation. Sometimes, I branch out and go with other shades, but White Russian is great for an intro to the line. I purchased the small sizes in a gift set a year or so ago; here’s hoping they bring them back.

GIFT SETS

Marc Jacobs The Skyeliner Petite High Liners – love these eyeliners. They stay, smudge before they set {if that’s the look you want}, and this gift set is at a great price point to try the variety of the line.

Too Faced Le Petit Tresor – 3 of the brand’s famed La Crème lipsticks. I’ve been dying to try these, and at $36, this puts each lipstick at just over $10 each. I think that’s reasonable versus their price individually. I’ll just have to be sure they’re full sized {even if they aren’t, I have enough lipstick to justify only a small sample, let’s be honest}.

Too Faced Beautifully Blushed and Bronzed – I love my Chocolate Soleil bronzer {case in point – above!}, so if you think you will too, grab this set instead of the full size to give it a try! I’ve also heard good things about the blushes. This set will surely be making it in to my cart.
