Makeup Change Up: Spring Addition

I love all that comes with the change of seasons {ok, not so much from fall to winter because Canada = cold}, and shopping my stash or trying out new, bright tones for Spring is no exception.

Sephora VIB Spring Sale Wishlist

Spring.  It brings so many happy things after a long Canadian winter: warmer weather, pedicures, green grass and bright sunshine to name a few, but most importantly, the Sephora VIB Spring Sale.  It’s been confirmed, April 18-24th brings about 15% off for all VIB members {Rouge gets a head start April 18th, at least I get something for my over-spending..}, via the code ROUGESPRING {VIBSPRING – for regular VIB members/borderline over spenders, BISPRING – for Beauty Insiders/reasonable spenders}.  The code can be used multiple times throughout the sale.

I’ve put together a wishlist of a few things I’ve been lusting after.  I’m trying to curb spending on makeup as much as possible, but like any good beauty junkie, I’m not doing very well.  I can’t guarantee I’ll buy all of this.  Granted, it’s not a hefty list and won’t break the bank, so I’m not really 100% decided {bonus points for any rationalization of beauty product purchases…comment below if y’all are in the club with me}.  I thought you’d all like a sneak peak at just what I’m thinking I’ll buy April 18th.

Benefit’s Goof Proof Pencil – I’ve seen a number of people rave about this product and I’m willing to be a convert from the Anastasia camp.  I can rationalize giving this a try with a little discount, no?  I think I’ll be in the shade Medium.

tarte Fake Awake eyeliner – Tiffany D from Makeup By Tiffany D raved about this product; I have been a loyal viewer for years, and trust her opinions.  I often line my waterline with a darker liner appreciating the look it gives of fuller bottom lashes and with the right tone can really make my greenish/brown eyes pop.  I’m interested to see if the opposite will open my eyes and give a different sort of a pop to my overall look.

NARS Madly blush – This looks like it might be a bit light for my skintone, but I’ll give it a try.  I’ve seen a few YouTubers give it a rave review, so I’m willing to order it knowing I can return to Sephora if it doesn’t work {I try not to do this, generally, since they can’t re-sell used product}. Have any of you used this on a more olive skintone?

Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter – This isn’t a product I’ve heard any particular buzz about, but rather, I’m on the hunt for a rose gold highlighter and this one just found it’s way into my cart like it was meant to be!  I did a quick web search and can’t really find any reviews.  I’ll give this a sort of a ‘blind’ shot, though, because Too Faced generally always hits

Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette – My current collection really lacks any Anastasia products beyond her collection-staple Brow Whiz and Dipbrow Pomade really.  I heard nothing but rave reviews about the Anastasia x Mario palette, but missed the boat on that one {still hitting myself for not purchasing} so this comes in a close second from what I’ve read.  It has some seriously beautiful shades that I’d use daily – namely the golds and browns – and I’ve been meaning to add a pop of pink for spring to my look so this palette fits that bill just right too.  I also like the mix of shimmer and matte.  I have a really good feeling about this one!

There you have it.  This makeup junkie is ready – well ahead of time – to pull the trigger on some much needed new beauty bits.

Winter Makeup Change Up

I’ve blogged in the past about how I manage to use my out of control large makeup collection and really cull through the goods to find out what items are just as good as they claim to be, or items that I just can’t live without.  If you’re curious to see what I’ve used in the past, check out my most recent change up post here.

Following a vacation to Mexico, rather busy November & December, as well as a packed social and work schedule, I wasn’t able to do this as early as I’d hoped.  Apologies.  Better late than never, right?  RIGHT?

What Stayed:

I guess you could stay these are my staples, and things I just really love {if it’s not, I’ve indicated below!}

  • Beautycounter Tint Skin Foundation {I mix this with whatever moisturizer I’m using}
  • Life Brand concealer/blemish stick
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara
  • L’Oreal Voluminous primer
  • MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Radiant Rose
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer {I use fair}
  • Benefit Eye Bright
  • Tarte Concealer {I was very surprised to see this is still made – it’s just ok.  I’ll finish it up and won’t likely repurchase}edits-kept
  • Chanel Les Beiges powder
  • Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Khaki
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade {Dark Brown slightly sheered out matches me perfectly}
  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara {a sample only, still on the fence about this one!}
  • NYX Lip Lingerie
  • Bite Lippies – various shades, but my fave is Meringue
  • Fresh Lip Treatment {trying to use this up.  It’s not bad, but Carmex is better…}
  • Kat Von D Ink Liner in Hemingway
  • Anastasia Brow Wiz

{Incase you’re wondering just what didn’t make the cut this time, here’s a shot!}

What’s New?

I can’t tell you how incredibly excited I am to try these new goodies!  All year long, I keep a list of Sephora loves, and I anxiously await the 20% off sale to pick up just what I’ve been dying to try.  Some of these beauties are new acquisitions and I’m giving them a true first try.   It would seem I’m into single shadows this month…a welcome diversion from my palette-heavy rotation!

* You’ve noticed the list below is missing a few bits.  Why, you ask?  It’s simple.  I picked out too many products to try this time around; they’ll have to wait.  I kept the picture just as a little reminder*

  • Dior 5 Couleurs Palette in Rosy Tan {I’m ashamed to say, this isn’t made anymore.  I’ve had this for a while – for my personal collection only – but I still love it!}
  • Marc Jacobs Air Blush  #508
  • Nars The Multiple in Portofino {not sure how I’m going to like cream blush in winter…}
  • Becca x Jaclyn Hnew-face-editedill Champagne Splits
  • Gucci bronzer **
  • Hard Candy eyeshadow in Nude Beach
  • Lorac Blush in Flaunt {linked below – and it’s on sale!}
  • Buxom Full on Lip Polish in Sugar
  • Urban Decay Liners in Sabbath and Smoke
  • Urban Decay Chase shadow  {just got word this has been discontinued.  Seriously UD?  Seriously?}
  • Clinique Black Honey single shadow {this has been discontinued too.  URGH!}

**Before we conclude this blog, can we just have a moment for the untouched Gucci embossing?? Pleaseandthanks**

Declaring My Love for Minis

Mini’s.  I love them.  What defines a “mini” you ask?  Well I’m talking sample size.  Any sort of a sample size:  perfume, foundation, highlighter, eyeliner – you name it!   I get most of my mini’s from Sephora – 100 point perks {or 500 point perks, but rarely.  Those sizes are often more substantial, while still deemed a “sample” of the full sized product}.  Occasionally, I get a stellar mini from an Ipsy bag that finds its way to my rotation.   Frequently, I’ve nailed down a product or two from the Sephora line of shame.  Why the “line of shame” you ask?  Because it gets me EVERY TIME.  I line up, buy more than I need, test new things, come back.  Sephora/LVMH – marketing for the win!

Rotation is another word I’d like to define.  How each person uses their mini’s tends to vary, I’d assume. For me, most of my minis end up in my travel makeup bag.  It’s not my 100% travel-all-the-time bag, but rather is my overnight makeup bag.  Perhaps “24 hour makeup bag” is a better moniker.  Anyway, this is not only a way for me to keep some mini’s of my faves in the rotation, but also to try some products I might not get to on the reg.

{Full disclosure: I use a lot of mini’s even in my regular daily rotation, namely for mascara samples.   It’s not just a travel thing!}

I thought the best way to show you just how deep my love of mini’s runs would be to go through my “24 hour” makeup bag with you.  Keep reading for a snapshot of my faves!

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray:  this was a one time mini purchase and wasn’t a sample I received for “free” per se.  I fill this with my HOLY GRAIL setting spray {from the bigger size} so I always have it just when I need it.  I can take an eyeliner or an eyeshadow or even a blush and create a look using this as a base, or just use it to lock in my look all day.

Tarte Clay Paint Liner in Bronze: just tried this for the first time today.  I’ve been a long time fan of Tarte.  I love their blushes.  I love their liners, whether clay pencil liner or a clay gel liner.  Their eyeshadows are highly pigmented and pop even without a primer.  This liner came up as a point perk from Sephora {sorry, not sure the level} not too long ago, and so I jumped as soon as I saw it.  I find that with my hazel/brown eyes, copper coloured liners just make them look brighter and wider. It’s an optical illusion, but it just works!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment: you’ve seen me post about these before; it’s no secret they’re a staple for me whether full sized or not.  Having one of these in my “24 hour” bag ensures that my lips are perfectly primed for whatever I throw on them – lip gloss, lip stick, lip pencil.  Oh, and if I throw in one with a colour base {as I sometimes do – depends on what I have} it can double as a daily lip colour.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder: see above for my love of Tarte.  Their setting powder is the bomb dot comb.  I hate to use that phrase, but it’s just the best to describe it succinctly.  I use it all over to set a concealer {see below for foundation/concealer caveat} or just for my under eyes alone.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick: {not sure, but I think this is in the colour ‘Shadow’} Bobbi Brown is, I think at least, an under-rated stellar brand.  Her esthetic is set to simply enhance your natural beauty.  What’s not to love?  This can double as an eyeliner, but I often use it as a base when I want to amplify the Costal Scents shadows. All of her products are buttery smooth and last for-ever.  I love them and will purchase {not this particular shade} a full sized pencil for sure in the future.

img_0123

Costal Scents shadows: {Revealed Palette Sampler} these have the most insane pigment for the price.  These retail for $11.95 USD in full size; lord knows what a mini would be! I got them in an Ipsy bag if I remember correctly, and have used them religiously for the last year or two.

Nars Orgasm/Laguna duo: two of my faves in a compact little package.  I wish I could have one of these everywhere!  Oh wait, I do.  I have one here, in my purse, at my office, and in my makeup collection.  I’m able to easily bronze up any look, do a light contour {see brushes above!} and warm up the cheeks with the universally flattering Orgasm {don’t let the name turn you off. You NEED this in your collection}.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: I’ve posted about this before.  I do quite like the mascara, just not enough to justify purchasing the full size from Sephora.  I love the long, separated look it gives, and is perfect for every day.  I have a few of these in my backup stash.  It wears wonderfully all day, but just doesn’t quite give the volume I look for in a mascara.

MAC Lipliner in Dervish: I think I may have said it before, but, incase I didn’t here it is: I’m not MAC’s #1 fan.  I just think there are so many better brands out there, even a few at a lower price point.  Their lipliners aren’t anything to write home about but I’ve recently found myself with a few {extra} in my collection.  I’ve got many brands I prefer over MAC, so instead of de-stashing this one, I put it in with my 24 hour makeup collection just because this particular shade is wonderful all over the lip a ‘Your Lips But Better Shade’, if you will.  This way I can pop on a bit of liner and the Fresh Lip Treatment over top and give my lips a little pick me up on the fly.

Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer in Mood Light: this one was a Sephora 100 point perk, if I’m correct.  And know what?  I love it.  I’m actually debating a purchase of a full sized {which is, undoubtedly, super $$}.  It gives a subtle glow to the skin and keeps hold of any later applied makeup perfectly.

Eyeliner Mini’s: Marc Jacobs Highliner {unsure of the shade} and MUFE Aqua XL in black – both of these liners wear so well on the lash line and the inner rim, so keeping these in here is a no-brainer.  With the copper Marc Jacobs shade and MUFE black liner, I can compliment any look or vamp up any day for a night on the town.

Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 50: if you’ve been reading a while, you’ve seen my post on why good skin care is essential.  That’s why I’ve got this in here.  Plain and simple!

Chanel Glossimer in #166 Amour: is this not the absolute cutest mini in history?  I think so!  I have a couple of these that I’ve received from the Chanel counter.  I love Chanel glosses and this poppy pink shade looks far brighter in the tube than it translates onto the lips.  It gives enough of a shine to the lips to wear with any eye look and keeps them moisturized.

Urban Decay Lipstick in Naked: this is just a wonderful nude-pink shade that goes well with the tone of my lips.  It seems to work day to night, and while I’m not over the moon with the lippie formulation, it certainly does the trick.

NYX Sculpt and Highlight Brow Countour in Light Beige/Espresso: y’all know I hate to be without brows, so when I found this little duo product in the NYX store, I had to pick it up.  If I do nothing else on my eyes, my brows are always done.  This isn’t a HG product of any sort, but it does the job well and the highlighter pencil on the end helps tie any look together.

Misc tools: Tweezerman Mini tweezers {cause you never know when you gonna get a stray hair!} and Sephora travel eyelash curler.  This lash curler isn’t my fave but it certainly works in a pinch.  I’ve not only got one in here, but one in each of my purse makeup bags too.  Hair tie – I’ve got thick, somewhat unruly hair.  ‘nuff said.

Various brushes: these are hard to narrow down, but have, generally speaking, come from larger makeup purchases {Dior and Chanel!} or as a gift with purchase.  They make great purse-sized additions or are the perfect “24 hour” makeup bag substitution for the real thing!

**Foundation/Concealer caveat:  I often use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind all over – under my eyes, on my face, wherever it needs to go.  It blends so seamlessly and conceals perfectly.  What’s not to love?  I don’t often wear foundation, but if I did, I’d grab a MUFE mini from Sephora and throw it in!  If I’m in particular trouble, I use what’s left of a Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque**

Fall Makeup Change-Up

If you’ve been reading for a while, you know I like to post about changing out my makeup seasonally or just when I feel like I’m in the mood for a change.  This time, I suddenly got excited for the upcoming Fall season {not sure why – it’s cold, my birthday is coming and I’ll be a year older, and a frigid, Canadian winter is imminent}, and decided it’s time for a change.

I started by eliminating any products I deemed to be “summery”.  This included bright lippies, eyeshadows, or blush.

I decided to retire {and by retire, I just mean put back into my massive collection}:

img_0120

  • a Too Faced Melted lipstick in Peony and a NYX Intense Butter Gloss;
  • a long-time fave eyeliner from Tarte;
  • my NYX Brow Pencil;
  • Tom Ford lippie;
  • Laura Mercier’s Rose Gold Metallic Eye Creme Color;
  • L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Amber Rush;
  • my new absolute fave blush – Colour Pop’s Never Been Kissed;
  • Too Faced Love Flush mini-blush;
  • Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold highlighter {was a LE item, unfortunately}.

This is really the only way I can work my way through what I’ve got and be sure everything gets the love it deserves!

As always, a few things got to stick around.  I guess you could call these some of my Ride or Die {I can’t make that phrase happen.  Still hate it…} products, or some I’m just trying to use up or am testing for future bloggity posts:

  • Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer;
  • Chanel Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer;
  • Chanel Les Beiges All In One Healthy Glow Fluid {discontinued, but they kept No 20, my shade!};
  • MAC Prep n Prime in Radiant Rose;
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory;
  • Life Brand Clear Action Acne Treatment Concealer Stick in Light;
  • Carmex;
  • L’Oreal Voluminous Primer;
  • L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara with a curved brush in Blackest Black;
  • Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara {I’m thinking I’m gonna do a review on this one…comment below if you want one!};img_0119
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara {not sure of the shade, likely very black – can’t read it};
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown;
  • Lipstick in Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect and Bite’s Meringue;
  • Lipliners from MAC in Soar and MUFE in 3c;
  • NARS Satin Lip Pencil {not sure of the shade};
  • Various samples, and a dirty-azz set of Q-tips and a slightly dirty mini BeautyBlender.

What’s new for the fall?  A few things, but it looks like I kept most things around, huh?  The staples above seem to be pretty common in all of my change-out posts, so it doesn’t leave much room for new products.  I did, of course, make due with the circumstances and managed to find room for a few newbs in the daily rotation:

  • Kevin Aucoin eyeshadow in #108 Faded Heather {I love this shade all year round.  It’s so unique, but especially wonderful for fall};
  • Chanel Ombre Essentielle in #90 Fauve;
  • Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in #89 Canaille {this translates to “Cinnamon” and is a welcome departure from my normal pink shades.  I love it, though, and have re-discovered this in my collection for sure!}img_0122
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta {y’all know I couldn’t stay away entirely from pink!};
  • BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal;
  • Benefit Eye Bright {yes this is old packaging, but I sharpened and sterilized it}.  This was totally inspired by Tiffany D and an old fave re-discovered;
  • Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Khaki {another gorgeous shade for hazel eyes and for fall}  How I love this formula!;
  • Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown;
  • Charlotte Tillbury eyeliner in Verushka Mink;
  • Chanel Precision eyeliner in Violet Smoke;
  • NYX Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim;
  • NARS Velvet Matte lippies in Roman Holiday and Never Say Never.

Whew!  There you have it.  Another seasonal change out done and I’m ready to rock and find some old new loves in my current collection.

Lovin’ Lately: July Faves

I’m going to be starting a new monthly feature: favourites.  Original, I know.  While not a particularly unique idea, I think it’s a great way to share with you – my valued readers – what I’ve been lovin’ lately.

all faves

Beauty Faves

Y’all know my fave mascara.  Without a doubt, hands down, Maybellimascarasne Lash Sensational.  You can’t beat the performance for the price.  However, this month, I’ve discovered that one coat of Benefit’s They’re Real before two coats of the Maybelline just pops those lashes even more.  It makes the curl hold just a little bit better and creates an even better false lash look.  I think I’ll be posting about this combo again!

Real Techniques brushes have been my go to set of tools throughout July.  Again, another drugstore find that work just as well as many other high end brushes I’ve tried.  You can find them here in Canada at Wal-Mart, ranging in price for individual brushes to a set of two or three designed for a particular purpose.  They apply product beautifully and blend products like a dream.  What more are you really looking for in a set of brushes?  These gems just prove you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to create a fantastic look.

You may remember this post here – I had to rehab my beloved BECCA highlighter in Champagne Pop after an unfortunate fall to it’s death.  Great news!  The rehab efforts were successful and I’m able to cbeauty favesontinue using the product with just as much payoff as before.  I use it on clients and myself {not the same one, of course!}; sometimes on the face for a pop of summer glow, and sometimes on the eyes for a gorgeous shimmer look with little effort.  It just is, hands down, the best highlighter on the market.

The Dior Coral Glow Nude Tan is an older product, from 2013, I believe.  I sort of shopped my stash and found this forgotten star and broke it out for the month of August.  I don’t believe it’s made anymore, but it’s gorgeous and I’m sure Dior has something similar still or the products separately.  The bronzer is light and provides a subtle shimmer to the skin, while the blush is a perfect coral/pink shade, just as the name suggests.  I was able to subtly contour with the bronzer as I like to do and top the look with the blush for a perfect sun-kissed glow all month.

I posted earlier this week about the importance of skin care.  What got me thinking on this particular wavelength, you ask?  This product:  Origins’ Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.  My skin gets particularly dehydrated in the summer – join the club, I guess you’re thinking.  Well, this helps to solve the problem.  I apply before bed as an overnight treatment.  I wake up with super smooth skin and as an added bonus, it can be applied elsewhere for dry patches {read: elbows or knees!}.

Lifestyle Faves

This month, I’m throwing in a few lifestyle faves.  That’s the beauty of running your own blog!  I can post about both beauty and lifestyle whenever my little heart desires!

First up, I’ve been lovin’ my Longchamp Le Pliage tote in the gorgeous coral colour pictured above.  It’s functional and cute.   I work a regular 9-5 in addition to running L’nL, and often have a bag full of a lunch, a laptop, agenda and miscellaneous other papers, my iPad and my phone(s).  This keeps it all together in a durable tote that can be popped in the wash if it’s dirty and folds neatly to a flat rectangle {with handles} should I need to pack it on my often taken business trips.

bags together

Before {small, perfect for a purse} |  After {functional and still uber cute!}

I guess I’ve really been lovin’ bags lately.  I’m constantly on the go and always have a re-useable tote with me.  My preferred bag is the Striped Packable Tote from Henri Bendel, a NYC based company with a Fifth Avenue flagship that makes my girly heart pitter patterevery time I go in there.  In addition to creating this gem of a tote, they create tons of other gorgeous accessories – travel bags {of which I have too many…}, jewelry, mugs, and home decor.  The company is US based – and is rumoured to be making it’s way to Canada – but they do ship to Canada.  Select items can be monogrammed, and I, of course, had to put my initials on my bag.  Like the stunning and talented Reese Witherspoon once said, if it isn’t moving, monogram it.  Check out all of Henri Bendel’s goods here.

That’s it for this month.  What have you been lovin’ lately?

Mascara Battles: Roller Lash vs Lash Sensational

I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for packaging. The smooth, sleek look of a Chanel compact. The chic, eye-catching glimmer of a YSL palette. Charlotte Tilbury’s rose gold accents and rose gold counter at my local Holt’s? Don’t get me started. Benefit packaging is no exception. Just LOOK at this Roller Lash packaging and super unique brush. Sooooooo cute.s1728492-main-hero-300

As a reformed shopaholic I try not to let packaging sway me, but when I read some glowing reviews on the Roller Lash product, I made a mental note to pick up a sample if I saw one. Remember when I said in my last post about those little bins in the Sephora checkout line that just nick me {and my credit card} every time? Well, that’s where I found this little gem, a perfect sample size of the Roller Lash screaming at me to try it. I couldn’t resist.

Packaging aside, I’m still yet undecided as to whether or not drugstore mascara {or products in general, for that matter} are inferior to high end. I have been using the heavily reviewed and well-loved Maybelline Lash Sensational, which gets stellar reviews from myself and other junkies alike; I think it’s on its way to being a drugstore cult favourite. Never one to let a quest die, I decided to check out Roller Lash and see if it lives up to its hype and could take a spot as my high end must-have {a spot that’s currently held by another Benefit product, They’re Real}. Roller Lash retails on Sephora’s website for $31 CAD {the small sample size is $16, no small price tag in my opinion}. Because I’m cheap, I opted for the $16 option – I thought it was generous enough to give me a proper test sample while not breaking the bank.

The Sephora website indicates Roller Lash was designed to mimic hot rollers, curling and lifting lashes to give a sexy, wide-eyed look. The brush is called a “Hook ‘n Roll” and has a pending patent. It has little hooks to catch, lift, and curl any and all length of lashes. The formula is designed to instantly set the curl and hold for 12 hours, but still be easy to remove. It contains lash conditioners as well, which are most definitely an added plus. You can see from the picture below that my lashes are long, yep, I’m blessed in that department. BUT, there’s no curl. Not a one. Not a single one. So, I always use my lash curler prior to applying any and all mascara.

I have to start by saying that the formula is wetter than I’m used to. It may be best to open the product and let it dry a bit for a day or two before using. However, if you’re dying to get into it, it’s not terrible to work with, just out of my comfort zone and preference when it comes to mascara.   It went on with approximately 3 coats before it was as bold as I like it to be, but the coats didn’t dry quickly in between, so I found lashes got a little spidery if I didn’t let each coat fully dry. Once dried, I completed the look with a crimp of my lash curler {I’m well aware that’s not how you’re supposed to use it, but I’ve been doin’ it for 15 years without issue, so I’ma keep doin’ it. MMMMK?}  I did use the Roller Lash over the course of about 2 weeks, so I did find that it became easier to work with, as I indicated, when the formula dried a bit.

For this post, I was initially going to do a comparison of application, length of wear, formula, you know, the usual fare when it comes to mascara reviews. Instead, I’ve decided to do just some side by side photos to illustrate my conclusion: they’re dupes.

Overall, Roller Lash gave great curl, made my lashes big and bold {just how I like ‘em!} and held all day. I was impressed! Now here’s a pic with my regular and much-loved {and cheap!} Lash Sensational applied in the same fashion {curl and set, if you will} with 3 coats and a final curl.

{DISCLAIMER:  Un-flattering iPhone photos to follow.  They did the trick, though, so let’s just go with it, shall we?}

Head on 1

You can see they give the overall same look from the front.

When looking up to illustrate the length from the base and overall curl, it’s hard to see a difference.  Both formulas gave some serious length, bold colour and sweeping curl.

By the end of the day, both mascaras were still on, not flaked or smudged on my face, and the curl still looked great. I was able to have my big, bold lashes all day no matter which of these two mascaras I used.

THE VERDICT:  Roller Lash is a great product. Does it trump my beloved Lash Sensational? Not a chance. Lash Sensational delivers exactly the same results at a fraction of the cost for a far larger tube! If I’m lucky, I can get Lash Sensational on a drugstore sale for $6. How can you beat that? Roller Lash is a great product, and I like that it has a travel size. So, it’ll have a spot in my purse rotation of emergency mascara/makeup goods {yes, that’s a thing}. I do still think that They’re Real is the best high end product out there, however Roller Lash comes in at a close second.

Don’t waste your hard earned dollars on Roller Lash – grab Lash Sensational next time you’re at the drugstore!
