What’s in My Summer Makeup Bag?

Easy, effortless. Bronze and glow.  This is summer makeup for me.  It’s all about a ‘less is more’ sort of a look.  Light on the bronzer, heavy on the highlighter, and always looking like you’re not done up per se, but have just spent the day at the beach.

Wanna know what’s in my makeup bag?  Read on:

Kevin Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight – gives a beautiful, soft, summery glow to my skin and gives a dewy finish without looking like a disco ball

Bobby Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink Quartz – great as a blush or a ‘no makeup’ highlight to give your cheeks a pop of colour.  I found this gem by shopping my stash. LOVE finding something I forgot I even had {not indicative of a makeup addiction. No.  Not at all}

Too Faced Love Flush blush in Love Hangover – this is just a sample size, but is more than enough product to properlIMG_2806y give it a try.  Oh, and do you see how cute it is? I love the light flush of colour {hence the name!} – it’s the perfect pink for summer.  Not too bright, but gives a beautiful rosy cheeked finish.

Lorac blush in Flaunt – I wore this on my wedding day and have since used it on a multitude of brides with all different skin tones.  It’s bright on those with a more pale and rosy undertone, and soft on those with darker and more olive skin tones.  Flaunt wears all day long and doesn’t budge.

Kat Von D Ink Liner in Hemingway – I love these liners.  The colour doesn’t really matter, now does it?  I’ve just mentioned it since it’s the one I’ve been wearing on the daily.  It’s a light brown that can be layered to give the desired finish – I can make it dark and almost black if I want to, or just do one swipe of colour to give a light brown swipe across the lash line.  IMG_2809

L’oreal Infallible shadow in Amber Rush – this needs no formal introduction; I’m sure you’ve all read about it before and I’m not the first blogger to sing it’s praises.  You can put this on with just one swipe of the brush to give a multi-faceted, two toned look {with little effort, ha!} or layer it IMG_2812over a rose gold base for a foiled gold finish.  It is easy peasy but looks like you spent hours creating an eye look!

Surratt Beauty Prismatique Eyes in Glamour Eyes – this comes with the cream base AND the over shadow.  You can wear them separately or together, the latter {obviously} ensuring the shadow will last even longer and the colour brighter than before.  The purple tones really make my hazel eyes pop.  Bonus: you can use the shadow as a liner in a pinch or smudged along the lash line for instantly thicker looking lashes.

Gucci Face Luxe Finishing Powder in 030 – this is a new purchase for me from a recent trip to NYC {I believe Saks on Fifth Ave has the exclusive contract for Gucci makeup, but don’t quote me}.  It’s so light but gives a lasting finishIMG_2813.  What’s not to love?  It’s a strong competitor against my Chanel Les Beiges in the quest for top finishing powder.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Dark Brown – an oldie but a goodie.  This never leaves my collection, if I’m being honest.  Not only does it smell great, but it really wears well on the skin and gives a natural bronzey glow which is key to the summer ‘no makeup makeup’ look.  I can contour with this if I want or just give it a wash all over the face for an instant beach look.

Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara – you didn’t think I’d do a daily makeup post without mentioning my absolute drugstore fave, did you?  Lash Sensational stays on and doesn’t budge even in the most humid of humid weather – and this is the regular formula, no less!  Love this stuff.  I don’t really like to go anywhere without it.  For real.
